Insight Global PreK Lead Teacher in Winston Salem, North Carolina

Job Description

NC PreK Lead Teacher provides a successful, safe, and supervised educational setting for children enrolled in Family Services Child Development Head Start/Early Head Start program. The Lead Teacher actively promotes school readiness goals and sets appropriate goals that address the five essential domains (social-emotional, cognitive development & general knowledge, language/literacy, physical development & health, and approaches to learning).

Develop individual goals, provide ongoing assessment of the developmental progress, and facilitate transitions into kindergarten. Encourage parent-family community engagement involvement in all aspects of the program.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Provide supervision and support to teacher related to classroom responsibilities.

2. Develops and implement a developmentally appropriate, multicultural curriculum for children.

3. Works cooperatively with support staff in providing direct services and developing goals for children with disabilities.

4. Performs duties in accordance with CLASS and School Readiness goals and requirements.

5. Participates daily in the team planning of curriculum with a teacher assistant, using and encouraging appropriate input from parents;

6. Implements federal, state, and local health and safety policies and procedures; NC Day Care regulations.

7. Ensure the learning environment supports the development of all children's social/emotional, cognitive, language/literacy, and physical development (using translators when necessary).

8. Responsible for planning and implementing plans for individual children, small and large groups, with input from the Teacher.

9. Always supervise children by providing and maintaining a healthy learning environment.

10. Develop and utilize integrated curriculum plans and designated assessment systems (Teaching Strategies Gold), which reflect mandated elements and components, parental and cultural influences, and promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of the children enrolled.

11. Follow a consistent schedule, which includes small/large group experiences, choice time, music/movement, large/small motor activities, skill development, meals, and effective transitions between activities.

12. Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem-solving, cooperation, and socialization; ask open-ended questions, provide quality feedback, and listen respectfully.

13. Directs classroom activities and appropriately maintains discipline.

14. Encourages all children to participate fully in all activities at all levels of interest and ability.

15. Supports the development of relationships between children and their families.

16. Works cooperatively with support staff in providing direct services and developing goals for children with disabilities.

17. Prepare classroom materials to support developmentally appropriate curriculum plans; create and change learning centers as needed.

18. Support the development of relationships between children and their families.

19. Maintains confidential records as federal, state, and local mandates require.

20. Collaborates with the Teacher Assistant in a manner that will promote a team teaching approach.

21. Adheres to protocols and procedures for active supervision.

22. Must adhere to the Code of Conduct at all times.

23. Performs such other duties as incumbent upon the position and as assigned

Skills and Requirements

* Work experience with children

* Current driver's license and car with the ability to travel

between various centers and criminal background clearance; physical examinations, TB test

* First Aide/CPR

* BS Degree in Early Childhood Education Birth K Child Development Degree with a BK Teaching License. null
