This position is for a Sr. Sales Manager who creates and maintains customer relationships for the commercial aircraft seating portfolio. The Sr. Manager also supports the internal/external coordination of technical data, financial analysis, and negotiation strategies. The Sr. Manager owns the pursuit to order capture phase of business development and is responsible for accelerating the growth of sales within the assigned portfolio. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, commercially astute, results driven, self-motivated, and have excellent communication and people skills. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have personally achieved major business development results or have achieved high performance in other areas preferably within an international aviation engineering and manufacturing environment. This role is based in Winston-Salem, NC.

This role is eligible for relocation support.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinates proposal activities and support negotiations through pursuit to capture and close major sales prospects

  • Liaise closely with leadership and value stream members to align business and customer expectations for proposals

  • Engage with new and prospective customers to understand their requirements and qualify both the short and long-term opportunities

  • Organize and conduct presentations of our portfolio of products, services and capabilities to current and prospective customers and effectively communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of external customer management and teams, for a wide range of audience and expertise

  • Customer advocate who projects the customer expectations on behalf of the Interiors business unit, with an ability to find solutions through collaboration to ensure the highest level of customer service

  • Develop, build and maintaining professional business relationships and networks within the assigned portfolio, creating strong, long-lasting customer relationships

  • Attending customer meetings and events to generate leads, identify and encourage new customer partnerships resulting in new business opportunities

  • Develop a working knowledge of the commercial aircraft industry

  • Assist in maintaining and analyzing the “Sales Pipeline” information to support the timely status reporting of activates to Leadership providing key business insights: demand plan forecasts, pipeline activity, target accounts and defined timelines for pursuit to capture sales closure

  • Assist in the development of sales strategy presentations for executive management

  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Support business travel up to 30% both domestically and internationally

    Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of FAA and EASA certification requirements and processes

  • Understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes and terminology as it relates to project flows and technical work scopes. Adept at clearly communicating these processes and proposed work scopes to the customer

  • Collaborating with and/or leading cross functional teams

  • Working with senior level and executive teams

  • Aerospace industry with aircraft interiors, airlines or aircraft original equipment manufacturers (OEMs)

  • Financial calculations understanding and experience

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
