Hallite Seals Americas, LLC seeks Applications/Product Engineer to provide mechanical engineering services at its headquarters in Wixom, MI. Requires B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related and 5 yrs. exp. as Application Eng., Mechanical Eng., or related. Exp. must include at least 2 yrs. exp. with sealing systems and hydraulic cylinders and 1 yr. exp. training customers in Latin America. Requires limited domestic travel. - Conduct application and design engineering on new and existing products in support of the manufacture and assembly of Company products while using measuring devices included but not limited to, calipers and micrometers.
- Apply detailed knowledge of applications and product engineering methods in performing drafting and computation work.
- Establish specifications for finished product designs.
- Investigate and/or create new product opportunities.
- Develop original designs or specialized adaptations.
- Respond to customer inquiries both directly and in conjunction with Sales for the Company.
- Manage custom seal design and implementation and standardize the drawing process when required.
- Utilize CAD 2d and 3d to perform all engineering tasks related to tooling and parts.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Sales Department personnel in preparation and finalization of product and process designs, in establishment of uniform specifications for materials and/or equipment.
- Critically review customer drawings and specifications as they relate to the application for both new and repeat orders.
- Study and evaluate new application and product ideas for their potentiality and practicality.
- Make modifications and design changes in existing product lines.
- Analyze and report on returned products for indications of possible misapplication or manufacturing defects.
- Assist and/or manage tool repairs and new tool builds.
- Manage laboratory to qualify new designs and materials for the seal industry.
- Participate in new product or new systems implementations
