GMT LOGISTIC INC. LONG DISTANCE TRUCK DRIVER in WIXOM, Michigan

  • Drive a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 33,001 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW).
  • Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers.
  • Collect and verify delivery instructions with dispatcher.
  • Plan routes to meet delivery schedules.
  • Ensure that all pickup and delivery times are met to avoid potential service failures and other complications.
  • Communicate with dispatcher with concerns about any delays in transit, such as traffic, weather, illness, etc.
  • Maneuver the truck into loading or unloading positions at shippers and receivers.
  • Ensure that the given paperwork for all loads has all required signatures from shippers and receivers.
  • Conduct properly when at shipper/receiver/weigh station/etc. as a representative of GMT Logistic Inc.
  • Ensure regular and timely submission of load paperwork to the terminal for billing purposes.
  • Retain all fuel, toll, maintenance, and misc. receipts to be turned in upon returning to the terminal.
  • Inspect the tractor-trailer for mechanical items, safety issues, and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Report defects or violations on the tractor-trailer to the GMT Logistic service manager to ensure all issues are repaired in a timely manner in accordance with DOT regulations.
  • Report all accidents to the GMT Logistic safety manager to ensure proper steps and actions are taken in accordance with state/federal laws.
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company's policies and procedures.
  • Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving with the use of an ELD or paper logs.
  • Ensure that all the proper paperwork for the tractor-trailer, including insurance, IFTA, licenses, DOT authority, etc., is in a knowable and reachable location in the tractor.
  • Maintain a clean tractor-trailer; this entails keeping the outside clean and free of defects, sweeping out the trailer or getting trailer wash outs when necessary, keeping the inside of the tractor clean and tidy.
