Hutchinson Industries Marine Engineer in Woburn, Massachusetts

Summary: The Marine Engineer position will be the responsible technical lead for, research, design and development of products and equipment that are complimentary to the Hutchinson Marine Solutions product line. The Marine Engineer candidate must have product design experience suitable for maritime vessels and have a strong understanding of shipboard systems and environments. Qualified candidates must be able to work in team environments with other engineers and project management in-order to execute design, analysis, and testing tasks necessary to achieve product development milestones. Candidates must also work with Product Management and leadership to ensure that design configurations align with corporate strategy and customer level specifications and requirements. Education and/or Experience: •BS in Marine Engineering, or similar•MS or PE preferred.•Candidates with BS in Mechanical Engineering will be considered with relevant marine experience. •Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documents.•Ability to read and understand shipboard and shipyard technical requirements including work items, equipment specifications, etc.•10+ years in engineering related to maritime environments.•Shipboard experience preferred.Qualifications: •High technical aptitude for design, analysis, fabrication, testing, and development of marine systems•Knowledge of and familiarity with; vessel Hull Electrical and Mechanical (HM&E) Systems•Previous knowledge of vessel propulsions systems strongly preferred.•Strong 3D/2D design software skills. Must be proficient with at least one of the following.oSolidworksoCREOoPro/EoNastran•Knowledge and experience using and developing documents and spreadsheets to summarize work product, schedules, milestone completions, technical challenges, etc.•Excellent written and oral technical communication skills •Hands on mechanical skills - experience with hand tools and mechanical repair•Knowledge of fabrication practices, such as welding, machining, finishing, etcESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES•Conduct research, perform tests, and analyze results to design and validate prototype and pre-production level parts and assemblies.•Generate technical documents, reports, and summaries for internal and external review.•Create, review, and modify engineering prints and drawings.•Supervise engineering team to ensure work product is accurate and meets customer and internal guidelines and requirements.•Coordinate with internal and external manufacturing resources to ensure proper fabrication of designed components and validate manufacturing in pre-production environments.•Investigate, diagnose, and troubleshoot prototype level design iterations to correct technical issues and ensure development milestones are achieved.•Interpret specification level documents to ensure designs meet all requirements.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations•US Citizen or US Green Card Holder•OSHA 10 Preferred
