Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for a Software Engineer in Woburn, Massachusetts. This role involves designing and developing database schemas, troubleshooting database issues, and collaborating with other developers to integrate databases with business applications. You will be working in the telecom industry and your main focus will be on ensuring system performance, security, and availability of databases.
Responsibilities:
• Design and develop database schemas that represent and support business processes.
• Ensure system performance, security, and availability of databases.
• Troubleshoot any database issues that may arise.
• Implement data backup and recovery mechanisms to maintain the integrity and availability of databases.
• Collaborate with other developers and team members to integrate databases with business applications.
• Identify new features based on user needs and incorporate them into the database design.
• Utilize skills in C++, Database, AB Testing, ASP.NET, CSS, Stored Procedures, SQL to accomplish tasks and projects.
• Work with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively.
• Maintain a strong understanding of RDBMS principles.
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in C++, Database, AB Testing, ASP.NET, CSS, Stored Procedures, SQL.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Software Engineering role or similar.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience with software design and development in a test-driven environment.
• Knowledge of coding languages and frameworks/systems.
• Ability to learn new languages and technologies.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a team and individually.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
• Experience with software development in a test-driven environment.
• Ability to manage complex projects.
• Proven experience in software management, information analysis, and of computer hardware/software systems.
• Ability to develop software in C++, C#, Java or other selected languages.
• Experience in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (JSF, Wicket, GWT, Spring MVC).
• Experience with test-driven development.
• Proficiency in software engineering tools.
• Ability to document requirements and specifications.
• Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review.
• Knowledge of developing software in a Unix/Linux environment.
• Understanding of software quality assurance principles.
