Regions Hospital Sterile Processing and Supply Technician - Certified in Woodbury, Minnesota
Regions Hospital has an opportunity for a Sterile Processing and Supply Technician position at our Woodbury Specialty Center. The Sterile Processing and Supply Technician works under the direction of the Sterile Processing Supervisor and Nurse Manager and is responsible for all sterile processing tasks, including but not limited to: decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments; coordinates the repair of surgical instruments; orders surgical supplies; assembles case picks; and performs related duties as assigned. Processing, sterilization, and handling of surgical instruments: Inspects and reassembles cleans equipment and instruments. Cleans, decontaminates and reuses instruments as needed using the Autoclave and Steris according to established policies. Assures sterilization parameters have been met and records information. Wraps, labels, and prepares instruments for sterilization according to procedure. Completes instrument transport log on dirty carts and checks in sterilized instruments to assure all instruments and equipment is accounted for. Initiates repair/replacement of equipment and instrumentation and communicates impact on surgery schedule. Performs and routinely monitors sterilization equipment: Treats all instruments and equipment in the decontamination areas appropriately Follows proper cleaning procedures for items being cleaned Organizes and sorts instrument sets and equipment for proper cleaning, decontamination and ensures appropriate method of cleaning is used Performs presoaking, loading of instruments in the ultrasonic/medivator, and washer/disinfector, and performs manual cleaning/washing Prioritizes work according to direction and Operating Room demand, monitoring flow and timing Reviews, evaluates, and coordinates supply needs and orders (when assigned): Inventories ALL of the centers supply needs daily taking into account the surgery schedule. Maintains and adjusts PAR levels to meet the center's needs. Plans daily equipment needs and communicates this on the schedule board and directly with co-workers as needed. Works collaboratively with Resource persons to assure supplies and equipment have been arranged. Required Qualifications: Education: High school diploma/equivalent. Experience: None required. Licensure: Certification as a Central Service Technician (CRCST) or (SPD Technician) through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM).
