The Associate Staff Engineer, Hardware Development, R&D is responsible for helping the organization to identify, conceptualize, develop and execute hardware innovation strategies aligned with the organization’s goals. You will lead the development of cutting-edge technologies or solutions that address challenges, facilitating effective communication and cooperation across teams to ensure research insights drive organizational needs.

This position is part of the SCIEX Research and Development organization and will be located in Singapore. We empower our customers to solve the most impactful analytical challenges in quantitation and characterization through ground-breaking innovation and outstanding reliability and support.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Understand business needs and stay updated with industry trends to drive innovation in hardware design.

  • Identify and address technological challenges and opportunities in hardware development. Thereafter apply scientific principles to solve complex hardware challenges and advance technological boundaries.

  • Conceptualize and conduct advanced research to investigate new hardware technologies and methodologies. Thereafter creating and refining hardware designs based on research findings, develop prototypes and experimental setups to validate new concepts and technologies.

  • Analyze experimental data to draw meaningful conclusions and guide further research. Thereafter document research methodologies, experimental results, and design processes in detailed technical reports and present to stakeholders. through presentations, papers, and conferences

  • Participate in interdisciplinary projects, contributing expertise in hardware science to collaborative efforts.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • PhD / M.Sc. / Bachelors’ Degree in Physics / Engineering or equivalent

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in hardware research and new product development environment.

  • Advance knowledge in related field such as real-time UV detection / source and Microfluidic Chip technologies will be preferred.

  • Good knowledge with precision injection and fluidic control, Injections Electrokinetic and / or Electrospray ionization will be an advantage.

  • Experience with Laser Induced Fluorescence will be an added advantage.

    Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • The position requires traveling to company locations, customer sites and industry events in US, Canada, Europe, Japan, and China. The successful candidate should be prepared to travel up to 20% of the time.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Technologies such as electrophoresis sodium dodecyl sulfate (CE-SDS), ribonucleic acid (RNA) analysis and / or glycan characterization analysis.

  • Capillary isoelectric focusing (cIEF) and imaged capillary isoelectric focusing (icIEF) will be an added advantage.
