Air Force Materiel Command WIRE COMMUNICATIONS CABLE SPLICER LEADER in Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a work leader, leading technicians in providing command & control (C2) capabilities for cyber space base cable infrastructure through performing & coordinating the inspection, training technicians, installation, relocation, maintenance, fault isolation, & reconstitution of fixed cable & wireless distribution systems. Responsibilities Performs, inspects installation and maintenance actions on copper/fiber optic cable supporting communications-computer systems and equipment; maintains installation records database. Monitors, analyzes, troubleshoots copper core and fiber optic cable systems and associated voice, data and video transmission support equipment. Performs quality assurance evaluations and inspections, performs project reviews, and uses verbal/written communications skills to provide updates, suggest improvements, and prepare/conduct training. Performs engineering, planning, analysis, design, development, and implementation for copper and fiber optic cable systems. Maintains assigned vehicles, tools and job related safety practices in a safe manner. Maintains current knowledge of related safety practices Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2500 Wire Communications Equipment Installation And Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision.
