Site: N Antelope/Rochelle Mine

Oversee the safe, efficient and productive operation of the field electrical maintenance crews and other areas as assigned.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Visibly support and champion Peabodys Mission and Values.
  • Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System.
  • Ensure health, safety and environmental practices are compliant, align with the best practices.
  • Ensure alignment of the department strategy and monthly/short term planning in collaboration with other departments to meet production needs of all areas.
  • Develop and manage budget for the areas of responsibility and all associated equipment.
  • Lead the vendor interface and contractor management for assigned areas.
  • Lead the continuous improvement program in the assigned areas including 6S, CI projects. Set specific goals for all staff and manage the portfolio of projects.
  • Provide leadership regarding company policies, initiatives and objectives.
  • Managing the Technician System.
  • Assist with recruitment and selection process of hourly employees and salaried supervisors.
  • Directly supervisor and mentor supervisors and other salaried staff dedicated to the department. This includes setting annual goals and managing career development with those individuals.
  • Ensure professional development and oversee training programs in conjunction with training, safety and HR departments.
  • Conduct weekly safety audits and complete safety interactions.
  • Other duties as assigned by the company.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of five years of heavy equipment maintenance experience in electrical mining equipment.
  • Minimum 3 years prior Electrical Supervisor experience.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain within one year from hire Mine Foremans Certificate.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain within one year from hire MSHA Certified Electrical Card.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize maintenance work versus needs of production.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical truck experience with large fleets in a technical capacity.
  • Ability to develop and deliver strategy, budget and goals for a large maintenance organization.
  • Knowledge required of PPRS programs; such as Safety, Technician System, Corrective Action, Performance Management and effective supervisory practices.
  • Knowledge of mechanical maintenance and repair functions performed in the maintenance area.
  • Ability to solve problems and situations arising in the maintenance operations.
  • Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to recognize and develop skills and abilities in others.
  • Electrical theory and troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to interpret the CFR and NEC to comply, as it applies to mining.
  • Develop and train inexperienced electrical technicians.
  • Ability to listen and encourage transfer of information, suggestions and concerns.
  • Ability to train others.

Physical Requirements SURFACE ENVIRONMENT

  • Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
  • Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
  • Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders
  • Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
  • Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination
  • Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift
  • Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decib ls, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area
  • Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays)
