Fairview Health Services Health Unit Coordinator in Wyoming, Minnesota

M Health Fairview is looking for a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) in the Emergency Department at our Fairview Lakes Hospital in Wyoming, MN. We are approved for a Casual position with an as needed weekend rotation.

Responsibilities Job Description

The Health Unit Coordinator is responsible for the clerical activities on the unit assigned. These include but are not limited to the following:

  • Answering phones

  • Maintenance and regular use of unit communication systems

  • Coordination of communication between unit based staff, physicians, and other departments

  • Answering patient call lights to assist with basic needs and to assist in providing a good experience for our patients

  • Maintenance of the patients’ medical records / transcription of medical orders

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 1 year administrative or customer service experience

  • Strong computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years administrative or customer service experience

  • Previous health, pharmacy or hospitality industry experience

  • Completion of HUC training program or demonstrated HUC experience of 1-2 years, if HUC Vo-Tech has not been completed

  • Understanding of medical terminology

Desired Skills

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, telephone, and written)

  • Experience and knowledge of the electronic medical record EPIC system

  • Ability to focus and work in an environment of frequent interruptions

  • Strong organizational skills
