Job Summary

Safely operate all extrusion lines in accordance with manufacturing order and associated control plan in order to maximize productivity and optimize quality.

What You Will Do...

  • Comply with all company policies, rules, and procedures.

  • Take appropriate action in emergencies.

  • Run and operate extrusion equipment (including but not limited to: saw, blender, etc.) according to the SOPs, optimizing efficiency and quality while troubleshoot processing problems.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting to diagnose and eliminate problems incurred in the extrusion process, record all changes and adjustments on run sheet, and follow-up to ensure changes have corrected problem.

  • Record, maintain, and report accurate production records and work documentation.

  • Operate machine controls and alarm systems.

  • Operate Unidyne, Megablender, and Maguire Blenders according to Work Instructions (WI) and keep product loaded.

  • Operate the Ultrasonic scope for inspection of product.

  • Determine annealing requirements from shop order.

  • Load and unload annealing rigs, carts, and ovens to maximize annealing through put.

  • Anneal product according to SOPs.

  • Perform visual inspection of tooling and perform minor maintenance as needed.

  • Initiate/communicate quality, safety, and process improvement actions.

  • Initiate and support activities to minimize down time and improve product quality.

  • Inspect all products and use all tools required to control specified requirements.

  • Perform rod and plate size/material changes as required.

  • Perform and record in-process quality checks and take corrective action in the event of process or quality deviations

  • Perform periodic maintenance of extruders and associated equipment.

  • Make disposition on scrap.

  • Assist set-up process as required or necessary.

  • Remove startup rams and place in proper storage location.

  • Transfer product to next manufacturing process in a timely manner.

  • Perform training of apprentice extrusion operators.

  • Assist maintenance, supervision, and/or engineering personnel in problem solving, new equipment, or tooling design to maximize efficiency and prevent downtime.

  • Maintain work areas and company property to an acceptable housekeeping cleanliness (5S). Initiate improvements.

  • Safely operate Powered Motor Vehicles (PMVs).

  • Attend courses for training and retraining as required.

  • Perform all duties or additional duties as assigned by supervision or lead person.

  • Rotating work shift 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

What You Will Have...

  • High school diploma or equivalent English reading, writing, mathematical, and comprehension skills.

  • Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions provided in safety data sheets, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WI), and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).

  • Working knowledge and capable of accurately using measuring equipment (examples: tape measure, micrometers, UT, surface roughness etc.).

  • Physically able to perform work assignments.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Must have general mechanical aptitude.

  • Computer literate.

  • Follows all safety requirements necessary to be injury free while performing work.

  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility.

  • Stable employment history, highly preferred.

“The starting hourly rate for this position is $19.35. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered.
