U.S. Pacific Fleet, Commander in Chief SUPERVISORY EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in Yokosuka, Japan

Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the SUPPORT BRANCH, OPERATIONS DIVISION, LIFTING AND HANDLING DEPARTMENT ofNAVAL SHIP REPAIR FACILITY . ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Please see Additional Information section below. Responsibilities You will supervise and support a diversified workforce including foreign national junior employees to support operations. You will perform supervisory duties including hiring, workload distribution, performance management, and taking corrective action for the accomplishment of organizational objectives. You will review the design, construction, and use of rigging gear and personnel lift platforms for conformance to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and host nation requirements. You will recommend improvements to processes and products to eliminate or reduce bottlenecks and barriers to operations. You will review procurement documents to check if material resources and other technical data are defined. You will investigate crane and rigging gear accidents to determine root causes. You will perform periodic reviews and evaluations of weight handling equipment operations conducted by crane operations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Experience providing supervision and oversight for an accident prevention program for crane and shipboard rigging operations. 2) Experience assessing overall accident prevention program effectiveness. 3) Experience investigating and analyzing a variety of conditions or problems involving a large and diverse lifting and handling gear inventory. 4) Experience advising repair facility staff on the proper selection and use of lifting and handling equipment. Education Additional Information Cont: This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
