ASR Group/Domino Sugar Laboratory Analyst - Analytical in Yonkers, New York

POSITION SUMMARY

The position of Laboratory Analyst ensures the Quality standards are met for analytical testing of raw material, in-process, and finished product samples. The ability to generate reports from analytical testing and effectively communicate with a cross-functional group both verbally and non-verbally, is essential.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a laboratory environment.

  • Deductive reasoning skills in taking analytical data and predicting trends.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field OR a High School Diploma (or GED) and 4 years of equivalent work experience

    EDUCATION PREFERRED

    Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field from an accredited college/university

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform analytical testing of raw sugar discharge and blackstrap analysis.

  • Analyze daily liquid and granulated samples to ensure compliance with company specifications. Immediately inform the Quality Manager, Shipping Foreman, and Packaging Foreman of any quality non-conformances. Perform resample of products NOT within specification.

  • Cross-training in the laboratory for analytical and microbial analysis.

  • Back-up for the Laboratory Supervisor.

  • Monitor the release of Certificate of Analysis (CoA) as required.

  • Oversee the lab equipment and in-line equipment calibration program.

  • Batch reagents & inhibitors for Sugar analysis.

  • Perform composite Raw Sugar sampling on a weekly basis.

  • Oversee the Sugar Cutoff of the refinery to monitor reconciliation of raw sugar versus WIP/ finished sugar products.

  • Continuous improvement in the mitigation of Sugar Loss.

  • Oversee environmental sample testing of samples for BOD and TSS.

  • Organize and perform monthly trainings for the Quality Laboratory.

  • Collect and submit microbiological samples to third-party laboratories including environmental monitoring swabs.

  • Keep work areas neat and clean and all laboratory equipment in good working order.

  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Management System and SQF laboratory standards.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

    LOCATION OF ROLE:

  • Yonkers, NY

    The expected pay range for this position is $58,000 -$96,500 and will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
