KLUTE INC Welding Supervisor in York, Nebraska
Klute Inc. is a family owned company that has continued to grow and prosper since its commencement in 1961. Klute, Inc. is currently looking for a Welding Supervisor to join our growing team.
PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
Oversees and directs the welding and fabrication department to ensure optimal production efficiency and product quality. Responsible for meeting customer specifications and production targets while maintaining high quality standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety:
Prioritize and maintain a safe work environment for all employees, ensuring compliance with company safety policies and industry regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and address equipment or process hazards promptly.
- Provide comprehensive safety training to employees and foster a strong safety culture within the department.
- Collaborate with HR and safety departments to implement and enforce safety initiatives.
Quality:
Oversee all welding and fabrication processes to ensure products consistently meet customer specifications and quality standards.
- Train and develop employees to perform their roles efficiently and accurately.
- Conduct thorough product inspections to verify adherence to project drawings and specifications.
- Maintain optimal equipment performance to support high-quality production.
Operations:
Optimize production schedules and workflows to meet customer deadlines while maximizing efficiency.
- Leverage welding department expertise to improve production methods and processes.
- Establish and maintain standard operating procedures to ensure consistent product quality and operational excellence.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the welding team to achieve production goals.
Teamwork and Leadership:
Foster a collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
- Provide clear direction and performance feedback to employees.
- Address employee concerns and resolve conflicts promptly and fairly.
- Work closely with the production manager and other departments to achieve overall company objectives.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and quality.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Education
Associate Degree in manufacturing processes or related field and or 2 - 4 years' experience in supervisory position.
Experience
- AWS/CWI or CWS certification preferred
- Experience with AISC preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to provide accurate, timely, courteous and professional communication, and a strong desire to reach resolutions.
- Required knowledge of accepted operational procedures and guidelines.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and expertise in the areas of human relations skills and customer service.
- Working knowledge of PC based operation systems.
- Problem solving and planning skills with a focus on the ability to plan, prioritize and execute are essential to the position
Other Qualifications and Requirements
- Ability to delegate responsibilities and assignments effectively to employees in department is required
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing at all levels of the organization
- Ability/competency reading blueprints
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Standing and/or walking 90% of time.
Occasional lifting to 40 lbs.
Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls
