Aston Carter Director Of Finance in Yorktown, Virginia

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic leader to head our finance and accounting team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing and government contract accounting, coupled with proven leadership skills. This position will oversee the Controller and Office Manager.

Primary Duties:

  • Oversee all financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and analysis.

  • Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger and provide monthly financial reports to senior management and the parent company.

  • Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring high performance and efficiency.

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local government accounting and financial reporting standards.

  • Handle government contract accounting, including WAWF invoicing, preparation and submission of indirect rates, and compliance with FAR and DFARS.

  • Create and enforce financial policies and procedures to safeguard the company’s financial health.

  • Conduct financial analysis and offer strategic advice to senior management.

  • Coordinate the preparation of tax documentation with the external accounting firm.

  • Work with other departments to support the company’s overall goals and objectives.

  • Enhance ERP systems to improve financial processes and data accuracy.

    Background Requirements:

  • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum 5 (10+ years preferred) GL accounting experience

  • Supervisory/Management experience

  • Govcon accounting experience preferred (understanding of government billing, pricing, proposals, indirect rates, FAR/DFAR, etc.)

  • Strong Excel proficiency
