Bureau of Reclamation Mechanic (Electronic Equipment) in Yuma, Arizona

Summary Reclamation is seeking a journey level Mechanic (Electronic Equipment), looking to make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment. Responsibilities Installs, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots various types of radio and electrical/electronic equipment used for remote control operations of supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA), for wellfield motors, gates, and related facilities. Install above and below ground electrical conduits, wiring, and various electrical systems and components to build, power, control, and operate facilities and structures. Troubleshoots, repairs, and installs analog and digital radios, mobile and fixed, and other electrical/electronic equipment malfunctions to return it to satisfactory operating condition with a minimum of downtime in conformance with applicable Reclamation and FCC regulations. Installs, services, and maintains electrical and digital electronic equipment to include controlled access, video security and emergency backup systems as regularly scheduled preventive maintenance in accordance with applicable Reclamation regulations. Troubleshoots and repairs digital electronic equipment to include PABX phone systems, including installing and repairing various types of microprocessor-based remote data and control stations. Interpret electronic circuit, timing and logic diagrams as required. Operates a variety of test instruments such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, meggers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, frequency meters, and communication analyzers to diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions. Maintains and submits maintenance or other records and reports as required by the Maintenance Management System (MAXIMO) or other management reporting programs. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. You must be suitable for federal employment, determined by a background investigation. You must maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times as the position requires operation of government vehicles on government and public roads. Failure to maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times will result in removal from the position. You will be required to obtain a successful pre-employment physical examination by a licensed physician certifying your ability to perform the duties of this position. A physical exam may not be required if a comparable agency approved examination was performed within the last 12 months. The cost of the exam will be reimbursed by the agency.
