Education: High School diploma, GED or equivalent. Experience: Experience in municipal street operations, preferred. Necessary Special Requirements: Must possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Colorado CDL driver s license appropriate to the equipment and vehicles operated.

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR and LABORER Department: Street Supervisor: Street Department Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-exempt General Statement of Duties: Performs skilled and semi-skilled equipment operations and manual labor related to the operations, maintenance, repairs, and construction of City s streets, alleys and roadway systems. Performs tasks related to the department s buildings, grounds and equipment. Must be available and willing to work nights, weekends, holidays as necessary, and to accept on-call status as directed. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor(s). Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision and direction of the Street Department Supervisor. Examples of Duties: The following examples of duties are intended to be illustrative only, and are not intended to be all inclusive. Performs manual labor and equipment operations in the maintenance of municipal roads and streets, such as filling potholes, applying crack-filling materials, blading gravel roadways, demolishing existing concrete or asphalt surfaces, performing snow removal using plow-truck, motor grader, loader, or other equipment. Must be proficient in the safe and effective operations of motor grader, dump trucks, loader, street sweeper, tractor with mower and other attachments. Ability to check, troubleshoot, service, maintain, and perform light repairs to vehicles, light and heavy equipment, and related tools Conducts routine tasks such as maintenance, mowing, and snow removal at the City s airport. Will assist employees in other departments such as during Spring and Fall Clean-up, during water or sewer system projects or as needed during any emergencies. Will become proficient in the safe use of emergency confined-space monitoring, operating and extrication equipment, among other equipment and devices. Will perform other tasks as assigned by supe Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Knowledge of and previous experience in the operations, maintenance, and repairs of municipal street systems and the operations of vehicles and equipment generally required for such work. Functional knowledge of current and relative safety principles and techniques including confined space entry practices and trenching and shoring safety. Ability to ensure personal safety and that of other City employees and the public. Ability to communicate and work effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and the public. 2 Physical Requirements of the Job: Must be capable of performing strenuous and demanding physical labor in a variety of challenging work conditions such as after normal working hours, during inclement weather conditions, and in emergency situations. Must be capable of working safely in the proximity to potentially hazardous public traffic conditions. Must be capable of lifting up to seventy-five (75) pounds from time to time and working in hot or cold weather conditions.
